It's been almost eighteen months since the Devil's Gate was opened. Eighteen months since Dean made a deal with the Crossroads Demon to bring Sam back to life in exchange for his soul and one year to live...
It's been six months since Dean's year ran out and Sam was forced to watch as his brother died...
And it's been six months since Sam-with a little help from Ruby-quite literally went to hell and back to save his brother from a fate worse than death.
It's when the brothers decide to give up hunting after their experiences that things go just a little...awry. While going through their father's journal, Sam finds a birth certificate that apparently shows they have a half sister put there somewhere. And sure enough, they can't resist the lure. When they arrive in a small town called Clearwater Valley just outside of Odessa, Texas, Sam and Dean find themselves drawn back into the life they were attempting to forget when they discover that more demons have escaped another Devil's Gate and the town has become embroiled in training the next generation of hunters ready for the war that the Hunting community are in no way ready to face. The hunters need leaders to go up against the forces of darkness that are threatening to overwhelm them, and the boys are the best chance of decent leaders they're likely to get...
