Founded in the late 1800s, Witch Hazel has become known for its charities and its open arms approach towards those usually looked down upon in the Wizardry society. Created from the innovated vision of a woman is now known simply as Witch Hazel. She hoped to create a school that would incorporate a well educated system that would not turn their backs on students just because they were different.
The first years of the school found that most of the students were Squibs: meaning wizards or witches born with no foreseen talent for magic. This came as no surprise since the school was created in the honor of one of Witch Hazel’s good friends who happened to be Squib. Over the years, though, word spread of this novel school and more applications began to file in.
From Muggle born wizards and witches, who had missed their original opportunities to pureblood wizards and witches who simply came into their powers too late in life to attend wizardry schools. Even students from Mudblood parenting between wizards and other creatures such as vampires and werewolves have been known to seek guidance through this school.
Because of limited resources in the face of so many candidates the school was forced to designate an age range. The minimal age being seventeen (17); anyone above this age would still be allowed to apply for a position as a first year student. To better incorporate the drastic influx in age differences the school was officially designated as a college system for wizards and witches.
Yet even the strict and sometimes overstress rules governing the acceptance of students into the college which have survived the days of Witch Hazel her self cannot compare to the harsher and much more vigilant leadership of the school now. Word has spread to those willing to listen that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has risen again.
While it is doubtful that you-know-who’s shadow of evil will cross the gardens of Witch Hazel, the professors are on their guard for any signs that may lead them to believe that even He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’s power may reach even here.
