general:: Anyone who know Dawn who say first off that she was the smartest person they would know. After reading so many books in her life she would have to me. She doesn't mind showing off her smarts either. She is a true skeptic not believing in anything unless proof was tagged with it. Even though she doesn't belief in any mystical creature she does read about them, mostly from the folklore books she had as a child which were some of her favorites, even though she knew they were all made up junk.
Dawn is very blunt, never beating around the bush, yet she always was secretive and some what anti-social on her own free will. She makes friends, but she prefers a small circle of them rather then a mob. She just doesn't let many people in period, but the few people who are in she care for deeply. Most people might have notice her purely for how she debates with people or the dramatic situations she always some how weasels in. She never sky or silent like a woman is supposed to be, which sometimes angers some of her elders. She's a feminist and believe that women and men are equal and should not be discriminated or be reduced to career less lives, which is why Dawn wants to be a journalist and novelist.
Dawn has a sarcastic humor and sometimes might hurt someone's feelings though she doesn't mean it. It would take her forever to admit she was wrong, but eventually she does come around and say sorry...sort of. Yet when she's made of annoyed at someone she doesn't even have to tell you(Though she might anyway) cause her eyes do the work for her. She can give a stone cold gaze that tells you that you shouldn't exist at all. She holds grudges and is not very forgiving.
Yet even considering this rude dark side of hers she is a very compassionate person. She just might not always show it.
Dawn has a great sense of morals though and will not stand for injustice acts. If she see's someone bullying someone, Dawn ruffled up her sleeves, pull up her dress, and take action. She seems to never be afraid about anything and be a woman of action.
hobbies:: Reading, writing,
dislikes:: rainy days, superstitious people, arrogance, stupidity, injustice acts, bullying, cowards.
likes:: books, being right, sunny evenings, writing, riddles
:: origins
general:: Dawn Launcelet was born in London England. I know what your thinking, how did a Van Laman get out there, well I'll most likely have to do some more family background history to further explain that and most likely to explain certain aspects of Dawn herself.
As you know the Van Laman family have a hand in most business related things in Transylvania. Well a few generations ago Erno Van Laman (Dawn's Grandfather) was a young man, and business was going great in Transylvania, but one day an English merchant came to town and seeing Erno's math skills, asked him to become his business partner. So he packed his bags grabbed and went with the merchant back to England. He met a nice girl, settled down, and became rich from the business he started with the merchant, Tom Barker. He then had Tristan Van Laman , who then married and had Dawn. After leaving Romania Erno spoke little of vampires and werewolves. He knew the were real, but his wife wouldn't believe him and his son though when little was scared of them, he grew up thinking of nothing of them but bed time stories meant to make him behave. Tristan grew up and took over his father business.
Now for use to start our story of Dawn. Well for one she grew up in a upper middle class family and her childhood was a nice one. One her firth birthday she was given a book filled with collections of fairy tales and folklore. Her mother would read it to her every night. One night she grabbed the book from her mother and began reading it herself. It astonished her mother, cause how did she learn how to read? Well when her mother would she didn't look at the pretty pictures like most children, she looked at the pretty words. Eventually she picked up on how to pronounce those words and read. After that night, she would always be in the library reading.
Her favorites when a little kid was the fairy tales and folklore. One afternoon, armed with a book and some porridge she made from instruction in the book she went hunting for fairies but she never found any. This spawn her curiosity. She began to question everything, disproving Santa Claus, and every mystical creatures known to the world with her books. She began to never except anything as truth without proof. She didn't quite become a dull of bitter child though. When she played with the other kids she let them believed and played with them with there fantasy games and she still had fun, she just didn't believe. Dawn then picked up a pen and a journal and began writing herself and even keeping her own journal.
When she was old enough she was sent to a boarding school were her mind furthered went. She was always the top in her class and became so naturally smart she rarely did study. She had friends and a good life. She did eventually get kicked out of her the boarding school after a heated argument she had with a teacher after Dawn corrected her in class. She was sent to another boarding school and excelled there for her remaining years in England.
When she was 15 something horrible happened. The birth of her baby brother Fable and her grandfather's business(Which was ran by her father now since her grandfather was dead) was not doing well. Dawn had argued with her parents about how lady like she was in manners. It was small at first but exploded into something big. They had arguments before, but the boarding school gave them space and they couldn't afford to send her back to boarding school after summer, so not also were there fuses with each other were threatened but Dawn's education. So her parents contacted an old relative, Great Uncle Zoltin. He was the black sheep of the family. Instead of getting into business and taking care of shops he had became a man of science and had a lad just outside of Transylvania. He seemed okay with the idea of taking care of Dawn for awhile, so with some of the money they had left, they sent her to Transylvania to live with her great uncle, who after meeting him Dawn suspect he might have gone senile.
So here is were our heroine is now. Stuck in a small village with all the relatives she never knew and their annoying superstitions of vampires, werewolves, witches, etc.
parents:: Tristan Van Laman (Father) + Camellia Tayten Van Laman (Mother)

:: roleplaying
sample::Dawn was left alone in her great uncle Zoltin's home/lab. He went into town to get some groceries and other things along with talking with relatives, even though most would rather he wouldn't. So Dawn had the place to herself. As weird as Zoltin was, he was interesting and so was the things he was researching, like his research on bats, but for some reason he hid most of his research from her. She had grabbed her journal and a pen and went outside. It was day time so no one would freak. The people here were so superstitious she wanted to scream. Vampires! Vampires! Werewolves! Werewolves! Monsters! It drove her insane. Zoltin warned her to not step outside at night as well, which drove her more mad sense he was a scientist for heaven's sake!
Dawn strolled across the grass to a tree and sat under it. She hated this place. At least in London who had some sunshine, it seemed to always be dark and gray here. She opened her journal up and began scribbling down words on it. She would write maybe a little about the day, thoughts and ideas, etc. She might from time to time press a flower or leave stick it in there, and go off to read about it and then write some stuff about it down. Sometimes she sketched things she might see as well. Write now she was working out the kinks in a short mystery story she was writing. She was having some troubles but she knew she would have then sorted out in now time.
A sound of thunder roared across the land making Dawn look up at the sky through tree branches with a frown. Some water splashed on her nose and Dawn closed her journal. She stood up and ran toward the house as more ran came down. 'I hate this place,' she shouted in her mind as she slammed the door behind her. She dragged her feet back to the library to read a book to keep her mind of the depressing weather and this depressing town.
